Any sources for Deuce parts in South Florida?

Trying to get my Deuce fire truck in top shape, but would like to add a winch and need a couple of tires. Is there a source for parts in the south florida area? if not, how about the closest to Miami, FL? This stuff is heavy and bulky (as I am sure you all know) and shipping would often amount to more than the item. There is also the warm and fuzzy feeling of walking out with your purchase as you give up your cash. Thanks again.

I believe Sarafan is down there. Also in north Florida is Hawthornes and Green Gem.

if your going to put a winch on it, your going to have to look for a dual ended PTO since the pump for your firetruck uses the PTO already, (or does it have a dual end PTO?)
dual end PTO are not that common :|

Been there......

Scooter, I'm in the same boat. Got a M54, shipping's KILLIN me. I think Sarafan is sold, possibly moved up to Melbourne. Guess they were awesome cheap, but could get cash flowin. Don't know about the two mentioned earlier up north, but I'm gonna research em. Any reason for the Fire Truck Deuce ?Just curious, I'm a Fire Fighter in Davie. Anyway I'm all over finding sources in FL. Slowly figuring it out. They seem to be hidden and kinda word of mouth. Actually thought about checking with the Florida National Guard Recruiting Station in Fort Lauderdale. Drive by all the time, lot of trucks, don't know if they are maintenanced there or not. I'll keep you posted. If all fails the SS guys are awesome, if there's any info out there, they'll know.

Will follow up on the leads. Dual ended pto? I guess I gotta look at the pto to see what I have... I guess I have to know what I am looking for first! Time to do homework. Strosfla, in answer to your question, we own a woodyard processing facility almost at the Dade-Broward county line. We had a nasty fire about 2 months ago and even though we were better prepared than any wood recycler I know, it still took 40 hours to bring it under control. since then, I have improved my pumps, acquired demilled firefighting equipment, bought hundreds of 5 inch hose with storts fittings and built 4 portable hydrants. I also have made all of my pumping equipment compatible with our dade fire dept. When I saw this truck go up... I figured I oculd use the fire as a reason to acquire the truck during these difficult times. My wife went along with me and that was my birthday present. Keep me posted on availability. I am really curious about getting the pump working, but do not want to cavitate or ruin a possibly good pump. Thanks for the responses

Gentlemen. As far as maintenance parts, OD Iron has a mail order business out of Boca Raton. Matt at Green Gem still gets some stuff some of the time. Henry Hawthorne Tractor has a yard in Lake City FL. Has lots of stuff, mostly been there for years if not decades. Sarafan is still in business. They took the company back over from the folks they merged with in Melborne. They are now down on Pembroke Rd wich both of you will recognize. As for me, I'm just one lowly poor collector that lives near West Palm and works at Port Everglades. Nice to see some SE Fla folk on here. Oh yeah, the pump on the 530C (or 530B) is driven off the PTO, not the transmission so adding a winch is no big deal. I'll be adding winches to both my cargo truck and dump truck in the not so distant future!

I guess I will be crawling under Red tomorrow to check her out. Red is a listed as an FT500. I got a manual from the govt. when I bought it, but the FT500 is not shown as an option. Any ideas? Thanks again

A bit of shipping info that might help

strosfla...
I meant to tell you. I get quite a bit of shipping of heavy parts and stuff brought down to Miami from all over. I mainly rely on Greg, from Betz Trucking at either betzfreight@yahoo.com , phone number 252-928-0048 or on Uship.com. Either one will be able to pick up your load as combined with either backhauls or partial loads and save you a lot of money, time and complications. I have had complete trucks brought down as well as excavators and fire hoses. Prices could not be touched by any of the major shipping outfits, plus you get to talk to the guy that is picking up and hauling your stuff.

Kewl...making that down. I'm actually leaving tonight 5AM flight to Baton Rouge, picking the 54 up from a truck shop down there. It's been there since 27 March. I was hit from behind driving it home from Lubbock, TX. What a crappy end to an up to then uneventful trip. Taking the shops word that she's road worthy(Thinkin bout renaming her "Road Warrior") I'm actually changing course a little, sliding by Odessa, Fl to pick up a new 16.00-20 GY I found on CL. Save me the shipping, but now I have to worry if Alligator Alley is gonna be closed......WTF...just a lil smoke. Anyway thinks for the heads up. def. keep your boy in mind. Postin pics when I get back.........nopics......time to start workin on the REP.........

Sounds like a good idea. Gonna go over her with a fine tooth comb. I'm installing the alternator upgrade kit from Tim at Wolverine Technologies. Then just the normal start up walk around.........crossing fingers from there
