Want to buy M35A2 Michigan - Ohio - Indiana area

I'm looking for a reasonably priced M35A2 truck in the Michigan or northern Ohio - Indiana area. I'm not looking for a show truck; that project truck that you can't find the time to work on is just fine. My only requirements are that it has a LDT465 engine; a clear, transferable title; and is roadworthy enough to drive home from your location to my home in western Michigan (45 miles east of Ludington).

I'd even consider a truck that needs some work to make roadworthy as long as the engine runs, the tranny, transfer case and axles are all OK and I can find a way to transport it home. I'd prefer one with a winch. Manual or air shift transfer case, personnel heater, hardtop, and troop seats, stakes and bows and cargo bed cover are all desirable extras but not necessary.

I've been watching the GL auctions at Selfridge ARNG base (about 200 miles from here) but the prices there are way beyond my budget. The prices at Columbus, Ohio were more reasonable but its 400 miles away, which makes viewing thier trucks a real problem and transporting one back from there would be quite expensive.

If you have one or have a line on someone who has one please PM me or email me at houdel@carrinter.net.

I've got one houdel that I'll probably be selling later this spring. Picked it up from GL. I only bought it for the dropside bed. I'm taking it off and putting it on my other truck and putting a standard box back on. Drove it home from GL. It is currently licensed. Starts great in cold weather, cab heater, soft top, excellent tires, tan in color. It's a solid truck with 11k miles and 1k hours showing. Everything works. Let me know if you haven't found one by spring. I am near the Flint area.

Actually I'm looking for a project truck in the $1500-$2000 price range if possible. No sense paying someone to put a lot of thier time & parts into a truck when I'd really rather have the fun of doing the work myself. I realize my price range is well on the low side, but GL in Columbus just sold a whole bunch of them (complete trucks, not residue) and most went for under $2000. My problem would be coming up with an inexpensive way to get the truck from southern Ohio to mid Michigan.

Another buddy of mine got a running truck from GL for $1500, so I guess it is doable.

They are out there, you just have to beat the bushes to find a good deal on one. I found mine this past fall in Holland, Michigan for a $1000 from a guy selling it.

The body was rough, but the drive train and motor were solid. A little bit of work and tracking down a few new pieces and I added another $1500 into it for a total of $2500 to end up with a truck that looks like this.

Sometimes the cheapest way to find one is from a private owner and not GL. They are out there, it just takes looking in all kinds of places.

My Dad and I got ours from a private seller for $3,000 and put probably another $1,000 to
$1,500 into it.

Walter got his from GL for only $2,000 somthing (can't remember) but once you add up the costs of the new motor (old one was trashed) and some other assorted odds and ends he'll need, he'll probably end up investing just as much as we did, or possibly a couple hundred less since I dont' think he's going for a full-out resto as much as just making it servicable and reliable.

That's another thing you have to figure in, do you want one just as a "work" truck that can be a bit dented up and missing some stuff as long as it starts when you want it to, or do you want it to do all that AND look cherry too?

Sorry, I didn't notice the posting date, but REALMANTOYS.COM is still a good source for vehicles and parts. They have a large inventory but haven't advertised very well yet. Just passing on the Information. Have a great day.
You suck at the subtle advertising. All your posts (All 4 of them) are about realmantoys.
