here are a few things I do.

I hook my chain so that it does not rub on the bumper. much neater looking IMHO

I flip the shackle and throw an old tire on to push other vehicles around.

I made a custom step for the bed

Yeah, it's supposed to go over the top. The PTO lever from all the way forward to all the back is: High - Neutral - Low - Neutral(with hinge lock) - Reverse. If yours pulls in when all the way back then it's on backwards.

I like that tire idea. Thanks for posting it.

The wire rope should be on the top of the winch drum. The pto shift pattern from the rear of the cab is like this: REV-N-LOW-N-HI

Below is the only picture I have hear at work of the shift pattern plate on my Gasser.

You know I was wondering the same thing about the last fiew inches of wind, thats getting too close for comfort for me. The idea of a rear lader is also a very good one, however I would like to configure the ladder to fold at the first rung with two additonal rungs below it, for the sake of having a semi stock look when the tailgate is up and latched.
do you wind the last bit of the drum by hand?

yeah thats funny lol, but I try to be nice to my tuck when I can.

yes, my drum brake is loose and it is very easy to wind the last bit

But that will be easier on the Zombies too!
yes, make sure you are PC

just my luck, i just respooled my cable sunday. incorrectly just like it was. guess i'll be redoing it before this weekend.
remember to load it. I pull the truck across the yard in N or with a little parking brake on. it seems to be tight enough in N
