Hello, I just recently bought an NHC250 engine to run 3 wood pellet mills I am adding and man do I need some wisdom. I have the engine and just that, I want to put a clutch on it and I am 8 hours in and not a single step further to knowing what size clutch fits that motor. I would really appreciate any help you gentlemen might be able to offer.

Kind regards,

Paul

APellets, The first thing ya gotta do is check and see what the input shaft size is--its either 1 3/4 or 2 inch. Look around truck wrecker yards for a clutch assy from them--You would fall down if you priced a new one and for what you seem to be doing a used one would last a long time. The reason you need the input shaft size is for the clutch itself They come in different sizes and the clutch you buy has to match your input shaft. What we do is when we find a tranny in the scrap yard thats NFG we take the input shaft out and get it for nothing usually but then you always have it and when you are stuffing in a tranny you can use it to line up the clutch discs just before you put it in . We bolt the clutch on the engine and then shove the input shaft into it and line all the discs up to where the trans will slide right in. You will be looking for a 14--14 1/2--or 15 two plate clutch So figure out what size your input shaft is then go to the wreckers and get that size clutch assy, If there is no wreckers around you make some calls or talk to somebody with big trucks and they will usually be only too happy to help you Condec

I think what your looking for is a PTO clutch assembly. With a hand operated clutch, outut shaft keyed or splined to accept whatever you have to drive. I would bet you have a S.A.E #2 flywheel and housing. Call Palmer Johnson Power systems. 1 866 983 1313. this is all these guys do, they have EVERY thing you may need along these lines. We use them alot for rock crusher, haygrinder and rubble grinder clutches. They will get you what you need or pointed in the right direction.
