M813 Recovery

Saturday 7/11 we recovered my new M813A1, 5 ton cargo truck. The truck was located about 120 miles from my shop. 4 of us went, my friend, myself and 2 12 year old boys.
After installing new batteries, the truck fired right up. I had done all of the other prep Friday when I did a post bid inspection.
The truck runs great and it is a joy to drive, boy #1 and myself took the first leg. Freeway, highway and some small towns, top speed is 56mph @ 2100 rpm. After about 60 miles of true bliss, boy #1 and I reluctantly turned the truck over to boy #2 and Paul. Boy #1 and I followed in our air conditioned hell as we admired the steady stream of black smoke bellowing forth from the stack, of the mighty Cummins, as the green giant pulled some awesome hills.
(how about that fancy writing)
The recovery was a complete sucess, not a single problem. The boys, big and small, really like the new truck.

The truck is marked 955th Engineering Company, 329 QM BN. It is out of Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Greg, That is one sweet looking ride. I'm glad that you had an easy recovery, and it's good to hear that you had some young (probably soon to be members) kids with you. Nothing like starting them down the right path early on. Next time I get up around WI I'll have to make arrangements to stop in and visit with you and take a look at your motor pool.:-D

Nothing like the sound of an old cummins some 1400 20s and your deuces will be history.
I think I may want 16R20s, don't know yet.
As far as the Deuce being history, NO WAY. The 813 is great to drive, but it lacks the personallity and adventure provided by the deuce. If I were asked, which truck is better? I would say, the green one. (They are both green) The M813 will be nicer for long trips, but the M35 is a snorting, wild a$$ ride. Anyone that has anyone of these trucks is lucky.
