Buddy of mine wants to put one in an M101 trailer, add some landing legs, and have a mobile radio shack. He's almost as broke as I am though, so it remains a long-term project. :-D

I wonder if an S-250 could be adapted to fit in an M1009 (possibly with a dual rear axle) as a camper.

I am running an M101A2 that I put my S250 camper conversion in. Trailer is about a foot longer than the S250. Problem is, the trailer isn't wide enough between the fenders. I cut about 3" off each off the inner fenders to make it work (and so large pallets and plywood will fit in the trailer, too.

Pics of it in the M101 trailer towards the end of this build page: http://www.sanlee.com/jeep/S250camper/default.htm

BTW, links to pics of finished interior in this thread:

If I were going to build one, I would pick up an old 70s/80s Chevy 1 Ton and make a trailer out of it.

Next question, what was involved in putting the electric brake axle under the 101?

Later,
Joe

Time consuming part was narrowing it and moving the spring perches. I cut and spliced it with about three foot of 3"ID x 1/4 wall tube. Took a while, paying attention to orientation and alignment of the perches, and alignment and tracking of the spindles. BTW, there are no commercial electric brake hubs that fit the military spindles, as far as I could find.

Other than narrowing the axle....it was just bolting it straight in...axle tube the same diameter as the stock axle. I reused stock u-bolts.
