M818 Super Singles / Michelin XL Spacing HELP

My XM818 tractor is currently getting a set of super singles with 16.00 x 20 Michelin XL recaps. The installers noted that the rear wheels will ever-so-slightly touch the center suspension pivot point cap. Are different caps available for this mod or do I have to get creative with the cap that's present? Or are there any other solutions or suggestions I should know about?

HELP!

Thanks much,

Den

Thanks for the input. Looks like the geometry of the suspension changes considerably as the truck is lifted and dropped so I'll wait to see how it looks when we're done.

Where on the tire is it rubbing? If it is on a portion of the recap and not the sidewall could you cut down the edge of the tire?

Yee-haaa.....guess what. When placed on all six, the clearance is about 3/4 of an inch from the cap, so we're in business. I started this thread when the truck wasn't situated evenly yet thinking that we might adjust in real-time. This whole things tells me that I will have possible rubbing issues if used in extreme off-road conditions, which I do not intend to do personally.

I'll throw some pictures on when I can. Busy Busy around here.

Funny you should say that.....I was walking around her today with a body shop friend of mine who suggested that very idea. Are there any concerns with turning them around such as the valve stems? Will this take care of the goofy ultra-narrow look at the rear?

Looking forward to getting the front studs on so I can drive her!

Just put rear budcaps on the front studs....then secure the rim to the budcaps w/outer rear lugs.

It looks fine! Stupid me flipped my hubs so nothing would rub....in retrospect I should have done it the easy way & flipped the rims. You will have no problem airing them up.

POST PICS when you get done. ;)

I agree with flipping the rims! I did that on my M820A2 and they line up nicely with the front tires.

Haha....I actually Googled that. Then realized that there's one in the background. Ok.....any other ideas?! You can see the equipment sitting around from a recent water leak search extravaganza. What a PITA. Anyway.....
