Well I went to get the MKT today at lunch. Woulda been maybe 15 minutes if it wasn't for that tire I mentioned in an earlier post!! All in all not too bad just a little time consuming and HOT!!! By the way thanks to all who replied in that earlier thread. I made a hose with a clip on air chuck on one end and a valve on the other and let the air out of the tire. Used the leveling legs to jack up one side and used the spare on the truck to change it. She pulled pretty well back to work. I have a few photos peeking in under the canvas, but needless to say I will post many more when I unwrap my trailer of goodies!!!!

Looks good.

From what I can see, you have the new heater-fan system in the MKT. Great find.

Welcome to the MKT club.

Yup, Mike is the man. He should change his screen name to MikeMKTMan ;)

OK a few more. One question do any of you guys know what the stainless grate/racks are used for? Sorry for jumping around so, my head is still spinning from going thru all this stuff!! It had bunches of utensils, pots and pans and new covers galore. Some were labeled some weren't. It looks like it had a new set of travel covers, insect netting, and at least one cold weather cover. I also came across three fire ext. two coleman lanterns and one humongous wood mallet, or is that a meat tenderizer?!?!?! My kids had a ball looking at all the stuff in there as well.

A few more. I didn't crank up the top as I only found one jack inside so it was a little harder to get the stuff out. My little helpers took care of a lot of it!!!! I also had about five floor mats, and about all the MBU's a man could want. That brings up another question. Some of these have different burner styles, are they all the same just different burners or is there some other major difference between them? IE same fuel, same operation etc..

OK really these are the last one's!!! I didn't get to open her up and really really go thru it as well as I would have liked cause it was getting dark fast. If anyone has anything they would like to see better let me know and I'll see what I can do. Thanks for your patience!!!

MAN!!!!!!Unless you paid a rediculous amount of money for that unit you got a deal.
That thing is packed!!!!
The pic that shows both of your hands: In your left hand is the grill scraper...used to clean the built up crud off the grill....in your right is the big can opener for the food service sized cans.
The bicycle pump is to air up the old gasoline type stoves (they needed pressure to work).
Looks like you got a mixture of old and new stoves.
Unless I miss my guess that was part of a big setup...that was most likely the cooking section and they prob had one or two more for food prep and serving.
Great score:drool:.
If your are coming to Clinto's rally please bring it......you can hook it to Mikes unit and we would have a super Mess Hall.

I'd agree that thing is loaded. Wish I was luckly as you when I got mine. I didn't have near what you found in yours. I would consider your self very lucky. Most MKT outta GL don't even have 1/4 of the stuff yours does. Looks like someone actually stocked it per the list of materials before turning it in. Good score. You'll love having one.

First, WM I've been known to scorch water when trying to boil it. BUT, Sevo and some other talented folks will be coming to Clinto's Georgia Rally and they are culinary masters who can please a discriminating palate. But they will leave making cookies to Bama Lady!

Second, I may be quick to speak out about MKT's, but I've had a lot of help getting mine in proper shape form some very knowledgeable people I've met here on SteelSoldiers. Just to name a few - Aswayze, Wayne, JKS587, Cgarbee, Wreckerman893, Capt. Marion, crazyguypa, Mr.Travo and Sevo. There are a bunch of others, including the folks who have purchased my excess from large GL lots, giving me money to buy more.

Third, did you know Columbia, SC is rapidly becoming the privately held MKT Capital of the US? MitchG's purchase brings the total to five within 20 miles of each other. His, mine, Sevo's, and two held by folks we know in the local jeep club (MVCSC). The Canadian MKT capital is Cantley, where WPNS421 has two!

Lastly, Mitch I'll get you another roof jack. Thanks to a couple of the folks named above, I have a selection of them. The can opener that is in the cardboard box is EXPENSIVE - about $550 retail, $400 wholesale. I'll get with you about the rest of the stuff, maybe this weekend.

Yup, what a haul. You got a lot of super nice stuff.

You even got a set of the new lighting kit AND the exhaust/heater kit for the MKT. Very lucky. I don't think anyone has a set of those.

Yes you have two different types of burners in your MKT. I find it a bit odd why there were both MBU's (Modern Burner Units) which burn Desiel (JP8 ), and the old gasoline burners. But like they say, don't look a gift horse in the mouth ;)

I wouldn't play with the gasoline burners (the ones with the "X" style burner element) unless you know what your doing. They can be VERY, VERY dangerous as they work with gasoline under pressure. They are dangerous to start and to operate, but they do have the nice feature of running off of regular gasoline, and need no power to operate, unlike the MBU's. Though the MBU's are the cats-ass for cooking in the MKT though. They are much safer to use and operate, and work very well. Just fill them up with diesel or JP8, plug them into 24v power, set the power to max (to start), hit the "power" button to turn it on, then hit the "start" button and you are cooking ;)

Those large metal mesh racks are not part of an MKT kit. They look like possibly racks for baking. But I don't know how you would use them. Maybe they are just for holding food while it cools (like cakes).

I believe the mallet is for whacking the lightening rod into the ground that is suppose to come with the MKT. I can't see any other use for a mallet that large.

In your second set of pictures, the last picture after those of your kids, is a picture of two aluminum "grabbers". Those are used for picking up MRE tray packs.

You got a really nice one. Wait, what am I saying. I mean you got a really BAD one. You better sell it to me so that I can take it off your hands and get rid of it :D

Let me know if you need the manuals for the MKT. I have them all in PDF format.

Here is the list of all the parts for the MKT:

The BFM is for pounding wooden tent stakes into the ground. Most tactical units used GP Mediums or Larges for dining tents unless they were close to a building to set up tables in.
Normally the ground rods had to be driven in with a steel sledge hammer......the metal rod would bugger up the wooden mallet.

I can see we are going to eat good at Clinto's rally.

I have several possums fattening up now.

Anyone traveling through Colorado heading east? I sure could use them for my syrup production this spring.
