anyone have a 24 to 12 conversion for starter, i need diagram. engine turns when connection top post on solenoid to power ?????? so im confused

Well you have a bad starter or power coming down to the relay. check it out before you go install a 12v starter. If you look at the wkki you will find out how to do the 12v starter.

If there is power on the on the wire that you connect to the starter solenoid - then of course the starter will run. That is how starters work. Are you asking how to convert your truck to a 12V starter? The wire that you attach to the starter solenoid should only have voltage when the key is turned to the start position.

There is a relay under the dash near where the radio would be. It's small. About a inch by two inches. It has failed in the closed position. Causing the starter to turn. You can buy a A/C fan blower motor relay for a 1982 chevy truck from the auto parts store. It's the same part. Unplug the old one and plug in the new one. You should be good to go.
