Got the dreaded oily shoes on one wheel end. Anybody got the seal trade number for the big Eaton 401's?

NDT,

I can't help with the part number but I wanted to touch base with you since I am now a member of the 915 club.
I drove them and 916's in the Army.....a while back but you never forget.
Mine has one of the air tanks removed (still have it, it was rusted from the inside out) and I am waiting on a guy from Arkansas to send me one.
I drained the fuel tank since some crackerhead stole the cap and there was a lot of water in it. Put fresh fuel and made sure the filter had clean fuel in it. As soon as I get to NAPA I will get a new filter.
Also had to put a new ignition switch in it since the key was long gone.
The batteries are FUBAR but it will bump when I put the cables to it...tomorrow I will hook my deuce up to it and see if it will crank.
If it is a runner I guess I got lucky since I got it for $1800.00 total.
Let me know if I can assist with anything up this way...I go to Redstone a lot...that's where I got the 915 from.

Thanks wreckerman, I think we both bought these truck for the same reason the military did: Long road marches in deuces and 5 tons is kinda agony. While the 915's still do not compare with studio Pete's with air ride, at least you are not climbing hills at 20 mph with everyone blowing by you like you are up on jacks.

Reading everyone's experiences with these trucks from DRMO/GL, they almost always come to life with minimum problems. Yours will be no different.

I think with an add-on AC unit, this series truck will be a great way to attend rallies and shows. I've got a 600 mile round trip ahead of me to RRAD and back within a few weeks to pick up a 871 trailer. We'll see how beat I am after that "quick run".

bob tailing is no fun especially when you can go 70 but have to go 35 because youre afraid of rattling to death. You will come to respect the people who build smooth roads and curse the idiots that make em rough.

NDT....there was a M915 at the MVPA convention this year that had AC and very nice air ride seats...he was pulling a lowbow with two armored vehicles on it.
He said the AC was an easy add-on as were the seats. It had the Cat 15 speed semi-auto in it (mine has the Allison).
He had a very nice three color camo paint job on it.
It gave me a lot to shoot for.
I did get mine cranked today...sounds good and it shifts into forward and reverse.
Still no air tank yet so I cant release the brakes...if it runs as good as it sounds I may have lucked out and got a keeper.

Whoo hoo! Glad to hear your Cummins is alive! I saw some pics of the Convention 915 and yup that is a sweety. The A/C swap in looks simple due to the unused pulley groove on the accessory drive and the ample room in the back of the cab. Red Dot makes a really nice kit. There are also some at half the price, but not sure of the quality.

Reb87, that Hendrickson walking beam rear is hands down the worst riding suspension empty, but it is indestructable. I think you know a thing or two about loading these trucks up . . .

Thats great,
Ive been using the 915a1 in the field and pulling 80k its a little sluggish coming off the line if it has smooshed into the ground a little. It works great on pavement and gravel roads though. I pulled out our c65 chevy with 500 bu corn last year(45000lbs). It had sank into the wet field and was stuck. I pulled it out with my m944a1. I wanted to see if it would pull without a yank(quick, hard pull for you southerners) With the allison in first gear and highrange 6x6 I couldnt get enough rpm to pull. I put it down into low range and it had no problem pulling it right out. Im a little concerned if the m915a1 sits very long in the field that it might sink in and Ill have the same problem. The turbo should help though. That 400hp in the 915a1 sure moves stuff good.
