Anyone else see that torpedo boat?

Yes, it is back ... with a revised listing from what I recall on the original. Lots of stuff removed, lots of stuff disconnected or disassembled, etc. If you look at it as a 120' hull and have deep pockets it would be interesting to get it operational. But reality says that only a government could afford to put it back in running condition. Probably needs a complete ship yard overhaul to get the basics back in operation.

Then there is the matter of a crew, qualified captain, docking fees, the price to fill the fuel tanks - 8,700 gal. It won't fit on a trailer and you can't tow it behind a duce. Although with a bit of work and the installation of a crane you could transport a duce on the after deck. Hmmm?

The other boat that was interesting was the 29' sail boat that also vanished before the auction ended. A bit more practical, but it also required a bunch of work.

Attached is a pdf file with a photo of a sister ship with all of its parts and a starboard profile showing the location of compartments. The other attachment shows another TWR at sea.

With some funding to buy it and get it running we could always add it to the LST 325. Free docking space, crew to run it from time to time and take it on tours like we do the LST, maybe even with the LST. What an event to bring to a town or city..... Anyone have the cash to fund it? Could possibly even start a sea cadet group with it.

Wow, seems like a good deal. You always have this silly little hope that it will go for that itty bitty little amount you have socked away and you will score the deal of a lifetime. It was past my budget soon as someone bid the $150 opening bid. Oh well, we shall dream on. Thanks!

The auction closed 45 minutes late because two bidders consistantly bid at the 30 second prior to close mark...it was pretty funny.

Final total.

$54,000
The last bid was at 1747 and the auction closed at 1802.
The winning bid was $55,000.00, a bit more than my credit card allowed!

Anyone know if my deuce can tow a torpedo boat home from there? Will I need a permit? Does anyone have a torpedo boat trailer? Can I ramp launch this? Who will convert it to 24v start so I can slave start it?

Not sure if that was a good price or not..... The lisitng stated that it needed wiring repair..... We are finding out that the wiring has PCB's and I wonder if it was all removed from that boat to enable the title transfer to occur according to EPA rules. Will be expensive if it has to be totally rewired....
