second bad T/C @#%!!!

Well I finally got the deuce running today and pulled her out of the barn to let her run a bit to check for leaks after repairing ( among a ton of other things) the rad and changing out stat, pump, hoses and oil cooler gasket/seals. I had recently just put in a second T/C as the first would not stay in high, well as I pulled up in the barn DANG if she didn't pop out of high so I drove her around the back pasture and she'd pop out when I shifted or gunned her a couple of times, I know the guy who sold it to me did not/could not know it was bad and would not have sold it to me if he knew it was but I'm bummed just the same and just needed to vent a little
On a brighter note the rad holds pressure and no coolant leaks...so far

That sucks, but the rad & coolant lines imho, are worse to do. Be glad they are good, gotta look on the bright side!

I did the same with my 5 ton... the case that was in it when i got it was exploded to heck inside and the new one I put in is stuck in 6x6.

BW, any chance the linkage throw (movement) is obstructed? This might explain the 2 for 2 failure.

Might be worth it to knock the linkage off the TC, hand shift it into high and drive it to see if there's another cause.

I agree. I would make sure there is a couple of inches left over after it is put in high then the lever is pulled up as far as it can go. Also checked for cracked or broken mounts. If the transfer case is moving around it can throw it out of gear. I would also look at the old one very close to see if there any rub marks or wear spots that might indicate something bumped it out of gear. I would also try to figure out what was broken on my old transfer case and see if it is a easy fix.

I did adjust linkage but will disconnect it and see what happens which will tell me alot especially if t/c mounts are not tight enough.

hopefully my concerns might just be a little premature, however
I was going to go and take of my old "Field mod" lever lock ( aka deadbolt) but I'm thinkin about leaving it on for a bit longer!
