Just took Queen Lola for a spin

I just finished some needed maintenance on my truck (she is named Queen Lola). After having been a lawn ornament for the last eight weeks or so, she enjoyed the quick trip around the block and to the fire station for a good wash.

New axle seals all around, new brake shoes and wheel cylinders all around, all brake flex hoses new. hubs flipped and singled out, winter front mounted, new insulated cab top mounted, spin on oil filters installed, new alternator and compressor belts, rad recored, new tach, new coolant temp gauge and sender, two bumper steps mounted on front bumper, swapped flat mirrors for split mirrors with flat and wide-angle from a 5-ton.....phewww....I am sure, I forgot stuff! Oh, yes - flipped the bumper (see my avatar; that was her prior look).

Anyways, she runs and she stops. I am a little weary as to exactly how well the brakes are adjusted. I need a longer drive to ensure the axle nuts are not too tight and the brakes are not dragging. Can't and won't do that without plates, though. Queen Lola needs to have her skirt lifted for a safety inspection first! Before that, she needs a hand brake cable; it is on backorder and I have been waiting two months for it already.

And yes, I have pics.....

I decided to put the red reflective stripes on the tailgate and white high reflective stripes on the edges of the front bumper for safety reasons - and because Queen Lola damaged my wife's truck at night in the driveway with her bumper. Queen Lola was sitting still, my wife was moving, but it is clearly my truck's fault .

Yes, CLEARLY it was YOUR Truck's FAULT!!

Not much point in trying to argue that point!

HOPEFULLY Queen Lola has learned her lesson & she won't damage the wife's truck again!!

My Canadian wife insisted I put the cargo cover back on the M35 today before it gets too cold here.

Currently it is 63. I did not have the heart to show her the winter front on your truck.:-D

A week ago or so, the crepe myrtles were blooming. Hope this helps you get through the winter.

Sounds like Lola's down time was well spent, like she visited the spa! Those radiator blankets sure give her a different look, are they effective?

Not sure you need one in Costa Rica! The blanket cuts down on air flow and makes the truck run warmer. They also have perspex covers where the headlights are.
Yes, the winter fronts do work.

So, is that how you're supposed to wash a deuce - take it to the nearest fire station and have the pumper hose it down?
Sure! Or you use the industrial sized pressure washer at the station. I told the Captain that we now have a REAL brush truck (as opposed to our pathetic 4x4 F-450 at the station) and a 5ton winch comes in handy when you get a truck stuck and do not have to call the Chief for tow truck assistance....
