Taller tires = taller gear ratio

I see a few guys with bob'd Deuces that run the 53" XZL's. Although I have a set mounted on wheels, I have yet to bolt them on the Deuce. I'll get around to it, when I take the old Deuce out of winter storage, in the spring.

Anyways, I'm not an math expert and I can't find what I'm looking for.... What is the overall gear ratio when switching too and running the taller 53" tires compared to the stock 40" NDT's with the 672's

and 53's will NOT fit a stock deuce. the tires will touch in the rear if dual and rub just about everything in the front. 14.5R or 395's are a better choice. DO a search on it on SS and you will find everything there is to know about it.

if you Google you can find many RPM and speed calculators and 53's will NOT fit a stock deuce. the tires will touch in the rear if dual and rub just about everything in the front. 14.5R or 395's are a better choice. DO a search on it on SS and you will find everything there is to know about it.
Ouch........I didn't know it was a forbben question LOL......and I did Google, but all I could come up with is RPM's at a given MPH with a 53" tire. Not the overall ratio number that I was looking for, compaired to the 40" tire. And yes, maybe 395" would be better, but I had came across a great deal on a set of XZL's with 2-piece double bead lock wheels that I couldn't pass up for the money that he was asking and he delivered them to my house. To solve any clearance issues, the truck is already bobbed and getting a 6" to 8" lift in the spring.

sorry I asked....(puts tail between legs and mopes over to Google)

Multiply by 53 and divide by 40.

So, if you want to know your top speed, it (potentially) could be:

56MPH x 53 / 40 = 74.2 MPH

Assuming your engine has enough poop to push a bobbed deuce through the air that fast... and assuming you are crazy enough to drive in a bobbed deuce that fast.

In any case multiply any top speed number by 53/40 or 1.33 and you have your answer.

Why is everyone taking a response as a attack? WTF! I see it on I bet 50% of the posts. I'm getting really tired of it. Did I offend you by stating it would rub and offered anther tire choice that might better fit your needs? You left out you are going to lift the truck. I also offered a option on how to find the info you were looking for. I did not have the exact answer you were looking for and I'm sorry.

Easy. Measure the stock tires. Measure the XZL's. Divide the larger by the smaller. That is your final gear ratio divisor. If 5th gear is 0.8:1 and your ring and pinion is 6.72:1, your final ratio is 6.72 X 0.8 or 5.376:1. If you increase your tire height by about 1.33 times, your EFFECTIVE ratio will be reduced to 5.376/1.33 or about 4.02:1.

Thanks for all the replies (yes even you Westech)

I found, (oshpunit987's) link to be the easiest to use. So my findings are that, when running the 53" tires, it'll be like having a 5.07 gear ratio in a stock Deuce with stock tires. (granted the 16.00's will have more drag than a 9.00 NDT)

And Westech......I didn't feel attacked, just the way the responce was written. " look it up on Google and 53"s are a bad choice, even though you own them, and 395"s are better IMO" It just cam across as a little catty (spelling?)
And Westech, it's just a play toy, nothing more, that will see the sand from time to time up at Silver lake. Maybe some day if you make it back over the big lake again, I can meet up with another fellow SS member. Just look for the guy with the heavest truck out in the dunes:-D

and thanks again guys
