Actually the bomb loading rail has a lighter top rail and goes all the way to the front of the bed as well.I believe the bomb loader only is rated for 1000 lbs, these are rated for 3000 lbs.The M27 bomb handling rail extended a lot further beyond the tailgate vs the wrecker and had a lighter hoist.

Also, the M series is similar to the WWII version intended for the CCKW,with the exception of the WWII version being curved at the back vs angular as with the M series ones.

When I was in an MP Battalion in the late 70's, early 80's, the line companies still had M151's and each Company maintenance section had a Duce with this hoist system. After they got hummers, the hoists all disappeared. I often wondered where they went.

There is one of those mounted on a M200 genny trailer a few miles from here.

The old guy that owns it has several M151's and a ton of parts for the same....he is not a member here and says he don't do the compter thing. He is retired military and worked at Fort McClellan for 20 years after retiring from the Army. I think he bought the Jeeps from DRMO there before McMuffin was BRAC'ed.

He said he would take 800 for the hoist and trailer...which is too rich for my blood.

I check the obituaries every week for his name.
