New '86 M1009, one question:

My new M1009 arrived on a transporter from Colorado yesterday. Despite Oklahoma's single-digit temps and the black out lights being left on for who knows how long, she fired up after one glow plug cycle. This is a great truck!
After starting the engine, both generator lights stay on and the gage reads well down in the yellow band until I raise the idle slightly with the throttle. Then she charges normally until the next start up. Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks in advance for any advise.

Randy,

As long as after the "rev-up" the gen lights go out and your in the green this is typical and you should have nothing to worry about. Both my old M1009 and my current M1008 did the same thing.

Edit: Nevermind Westy beat me to it

These things are notorious for having the idle set too low as well. If the truck is rattling like crazy, bump it up a bit. M1008 shakes the troop seats like crazy at that low idle.
