New Fuel Filter Installed But???????

Pictures will be posted tomorrow on this thread. Installed the Racor 445R Spin-on filter / water separator today. I wanted to replace the two rubber fuel lines (in & out). But the rubber line from the filter to the IP steel line (under the manifold) seems impossible to get too. I have a fuel leak and I suspect it may be coming from that connection (rubber to steel junction or a crack in the rubber hose).

Any suggestions? Thanks Folks!

You will have to take off the manifold. Another possibility is that you are leaking fuel from your injector pump. Does it take more than 5 seconds of cranking to start?

Just installed new 070 glow plugs with a bypass switch and it starts right up. I cleaned everything up with some brake cleaner today and did not see any weeping from the IP. Where else can it be leaking from?

Is it a pain to remove the manifold? I would imagine you would have to replace the gaskets? Yikes, what a pain to replace one fuel line. Thanks very much!

I don't remove the intake manifold. I just get above the engine and reach up under the intake manifold from the rear of the engine. I usually use a 1/4" socket/ ratchet combo to loosen the clamp and then cut the hose. If you cannot get the clamp off you could always use a crowsfoot tubing wrench and loosen the fitting on the injector pump and remove that way. Good luck.

Well that's good I thought I had the same problem but it was the ip. Anyway good choice with the fuel filter system I have a very similar one. One hint, once the bleed bolt stops DO NOT apply any additional torque, just stop. The bolt strips out very easily, ask me how I know haha. I guess you could do it with the intake on personally I would take it off.
