Hello-

Just put a temp gauge in my 85 M1009 using the block off plate on the manifold. The temp never gets past 170 is this too low?

I would like to get it a bit higher for use with WVO. What is the OE temp rating for the thermostat?

To get the sender plate in place I had to remove a circular device that looks similar to the CDR valve. It was in between the two manifolds, right under the resistor, in the back of the engine. It had some rubber lines that connected to the injection pump, they were shot so I replaced them with fuel line. What is this thing and what does it do? Is fuel line OK?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Bill

That is right where my truck runs too. That is a vacuum pump back there it controls shift points for your transmission. Fuel line will work fine. Have you noticed better shifting yet? If not you may want to replace the line that goes to the tranny too.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't notice any difference. It would be tough to imagine a truck that shifts better, even before I replaced the lines. There is a rubber connector where both lines come off the injection pump that is looking pretty haggard so if I can find it I may change it for kicks too.

That rubber block does nothing but keep the lines in the correct position due to the key on the rubber piece. It will work fine without it.
