Well i got home from work a little earlyer today. So i thought i would try priming the M1009 again. As soon as i saw fuel going in to the bottle i also saw a lot of air with it. Was almost foamy looking there was so much air. I am guessing this is coming from the leaky and bad lift pump. Still would not start. I guess i will be changeing that lift pump out friday?

Could be a bad lift pump, but I'd bet there's a leak in the fuel line between the tank and the pump, allowing air to be sucked in. Look for wet spots on the fuel line inside the passenger framerail or at the top of the fuel tank. Couldl be ALOT easier to fix than swapping the fuel pump.

Probably time to replace the lift pump anyway. When you remove it use some gear grease to hold the pushrod up in the block.

Liftpump replacement has been covered many times. Do a search and check out the tip/tricks.

The rubber hose going from the frame to the pump is preformed. If you replace it you have to use a standard hose and make a sweeping S curve. It can be done without kinking it.

... either that, or get the people at the auto parts store to see if they can find a preformed fuel line from one of the imports out there, and cut out a section of it that has a similar curve.
Great idea. I hadn't thought of that.

If you can find somebody to bump the starter for you, push on the end of that pushrod in the block to make sure the cam lobe is not in the pumping position. It will make your pump installation much eaier. I found a 1/4" drive ratchet works pretty good for the bolts. Glen

The replacement lift pump will have a gasket. However, you'll also need the mounting plate gasket which is the same from a small block chevy. Ditto on the 1/4" ratchet....WITH a swivel and a long extension.

Thanks guys this will help. What does that gasket look like for the mounting block. Is it the same shape as the pump gasket. Is this a spacer for the pump? :?
