I'm picking up my Deuce from GL Barstow, CA in a couple of weeks. Just got my EUC. I've read the threads on what to take for a pickup, tools, fule, etc. My questions are:
What are the odds that I'll be able to drive it out rather than haul it?
Could anyone recommend a good mechanic in Barstow, if needed?
Hopeing to drive it back to the bay area (about 400 miles)

Going to drive my wing man nuts following at 50-55 mph.aua
Looking for an uneventfull trip.:-D

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Hi Greg- I'd go with 50/50 odds that you can drive out. I've had 100% drive out success so far (knocking on wood) on a few trucks. Most of them needed batteries- so take them and some wood or foam blocks to secure them in the box.

I would suggest you call Tim at GL and ask him about the truck. He may know some details to help you prepare. He is a good guy- I'll PM you his work cell.

There is a big open lot just outside the MCLB gate you can use for checking out the truck, etc.

Barstow has a lot of truck mechanics, maybe someone will chime in. Good luck to you, and welcome to SS.

Here's a truck I picked up a couple weeks back, ready to pull out for Mesquite, at the Holiday Inn, Barstow.

Thanks for the info I'll give Tim a call. I was guessing 50/50 or a little better.
You only hear about the succesfull recoveries, not the DOA, parts only trucks.
I was planning on new batteries.
Thanks.
