Wearing a new name badge, straight stacked and looking quite dapper, Hannibal appeared at his first car show. The show was the Culver City (CA) Car Show put on by custom car creator George Barris (Batmobile, Munster Mobile, etc. fame) himself. We entered the show grounds flying Old Glory and the US Army Colors.

The show was quite big; approximately 500 vehicles in a small downtown area. There was a whole lot of spectators. There was a lot of interest in the truck. The show was close to home, so no long road trips.

We actually won a trophy. Best in the Work Truck Class. May have been a narrow category, but, heck, we won something and I figure that's not bad for the first time around. I owe a lot to my brother , Tim, who has tremendously helped me work on the truck.I

In the end, the most rewarding thing was the vets that came by, reminisced about and shared their days of back when. If we brought back one good memory that day, then the mission was complete.

Nice looking truck. The black hood hold downs and shackles are a nice touch. Why isn't the soft top off on such a beautiful day?

Thanks! I painted the shackles flat black before I had purchased a case of 686 Sand rattle-Cans. The hood hold downs came from McMaster -Carr as is and I didn't care to paint them. I like the black on tan look.

Soft top stayed up due to the ole' time deficit thing. But, yes, I agree it was a very nice day.

Will,

New fuel and new filter made all the difference. The fuel looked like green mud. We flushed the right tank with some clean fuel prior to filling up. Ran strong there and back. I didn't really open it up though due to the short distance. we do plan to pull the left tank and get it properly cleaned and sealed. Then swap it to the right side.

George Barris was there with some of his creations most notable being The Green Hornet's Black Beauty. The crowd was nuts for that car. At one point he was standing right behind me at the center stage area.

Second Showing at yearly event

Once again Hannibal was a hit at the Culver City (CA) Car Show hosted by Hollywood and Hot Rod legend George Barris. Held last Saturday, 05-07-11, Hannibal showed off his new accoutrements (troopseats, toolboxes, mudguards) acquired over the past year. Lots of old vets stopped by to reminisce. Proceeds went to the Culver City Exchange Club benefiting community programs to include Teen Center and Senior Citizen's Center.

Some pics of interest...Pre-show slick down, at the show, couple of mentionable's (Mercedes Unimog Surfin' Safari Wagon, '47 Dodge Power Wagon Flatbed) and...Uh, gee, honey I don't know were she came from:roll::?::?:;-)[thumbzup] Heck, I think I've been truck-jacked.
