Deuce Spotted

I spotted an old Deuce in Mascotte Florida. It was in a fenced in lot with a bunch of Boykin Construction semi Trailers.

It was getting dark and I was in a hurry so I didnt stop. It had been painted completely white. It has some kind of box on the back looks like sheet metal non military. It didnt look like it had been moved in awhile.

I think im going to go enquirer about its fate Monday.

A set of axles will sell to the rock crawlers for at least $1200.00.

I bought two out of a junkyard a few years ago for 400 each but the seller was very motivated.

I parted both of them out because the engines were bad.

I would lowball them at 900 each and see if they bite.

If they will let you try to crank them you would have a better idea what you were getting but if they crank the owner may
raise the price.

I dont think they are worth messing with for much over 1K each. Deuces are very plentiful in the SE for now.[thumbzup]

Non-winch deuce weighs in at about 12,000.

That 120X $7.50 (scrap price where I am now) equals $900.00 bucks per truck scrap value......less weight of tires and rims.

If you sell the axles for scrap value you are losing a lot of money.

Frankly, $1500 would be a steal. A 13,050# deuce would net about 11,000# at the scrapper after loosing 11 wheels/tires, batteries and a fuel tank. Scrap here is $9.00 a hundred weight so in scrap it would net $990 each. With that said, one would have to be an idiot to scrap deuce axles. You can sell deuce front axles in front of the piggly wiggly any day of the week for $750, a pair for a grand easy.

Well about the only way I can come up with 2000 cash would be by getting a cash advance against my credit card. I guess it would be worth it but I really dont want to do that. Plus they obviously need work, how much I cant be sure. Even If I buy them for scrap, I would want to get them both fixed and running.

I was going to start at free, and work up from there. My limit would be about 1,500 for both.
Ya, you never know what the guy will be thinking, maybe he will think that they did there job and he will be willing to let em go pretty cheap. When it comes to haggling I always have been a believer in "you can always go up but never back down"

Im hoping that they just want them gone, and will let them go cheaply if I can tell them I will have them gone within a day or two.

That said I wonder who is the closest person to me with a towbar. Id only need to tow them about 5 miles.
