Want a M1008 What to look for?

Been lurking here for awhile now. I want to get a M1008 to use for hauling wood and my ATV etc.... What should I look for as far as problems that might occur with these trucks? Also what is an approximate price for one right now? I had a Swiss Pinzgauer for a few years, so I'm not totally new with MVs, but I don't know alot about CUCVs. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Welcome to SS Dave, I am new here also. I bought a M35a2 about 2 months ago. Today I bought a M10008. I don't know much about them. You can get a lot of info on SS. The M1008 I got seems to be in good shape. Has only 60,000 miles if the od is correct. It drives good. Everything works. A couple of dings, no rust, the batteries are 6tl. They look new. The dash is not cracked which makes me think it has been replaced with a new one. The tires are fair. Runs great. The left front ball joint needs replacing I think. It has a new paint job, looks copper, but I'm going to get it back to original od. I gave $2100 for it, which I think is a good deal. The ones I've seen advertized were much more. Hope this helps.

I too hve been thinking a M2008 or 1009 is in my future but the bride to be says not till after the wedding lol so I have another month to wait till I can seriously start looking lol

Do you mean because the military is junking the trucks, or is it just harder to get them as they get older?

Welcome to SS Dave, the search function is your friend here. The bulk of CUCV problems revolve around electrical issues. If you are familiar with MV you should have no problems. All of the manuals are here and pretty much any problem has been discussed here. But if you cant find it, don’t be afraid to post up.
