I have a broken spring in my parking brake assembly. Sounds like someone is ringing a school bell as I drive down the road. In the diagram below, it is part #39. It connects to both shoes at the bottom. I wasn't able to find the part on line. If someone has a parts truck and has the spring, would you mind sending me a PM. Thanks, Eric

Sometimes a Google search of the NSN will help you find what you need.

There are 3 springs needed on the parking brake.

Call Saturn Surplus. They will have the spring. Their website has pictures too.

When I installed a new set of parking brake shoes last fall, I put in two of the #39 springs you are talking about. Worked good for me.

You should only need one good "mustache" spring.

If that's the logic you like to apply, might as well modify the studs to hold a dozen! you'll have the best parking brake around!

I could see a response like that from an angry purist, that would never change or add anything, but what does it hurt?

I had two of them on hand at the time, I figured why not. Two springs fit on the studs, under the c-clips without modification. It gives you that extra reassurance that the parking brake shoes will not drag while driving down the road. The springs don't really cost much difference if buying one or two, and shipping will be the same ether way. I guess I just like to do things different...

I see you found one at Memphis, but in case that doesn't work out, I'll pull it off a trailer brake assembly I have laying around. It's yours for the postage, or a cup of coffee if we ever meet.
