Need Some Help Finding A Switch

I need some help locating a switch for my 1031 contact truck. Here's the info from the plate on the door:

PTO Magnetic Switch, P/O 11023716
Identified as MS1 in my wiring schematic

This switch looks like a magnetic pickup to me. It's mounted in the shift housing of the PTO and sends the PTO speed to the controller for the generator unit. My switch had the wiring removed by the PTO shift linkage and there is nothing left for me to make repairs.

Just hoping that someone on the board can point me in the right direction.

It MIGHT be this NSN.... 2520-01-251-3200
I'm not too sure. I ran a search on the net and it comes up with this stock number, but the nomenclature sounds like it's the entire PTO. I'm going to go through the documentation on the PTO to see if I can find anything. I don't think I've ever run across a magnetic pickup on a PTO before.

I think this is the only thing holding up the operation of the electronics on the contact truck.

I may have found it. Muncie lists a Pulse Generator (31T35108) that looks like the item I'm looking to replace. The line drawing looks exactly like what I need. I have an email in to them for a price and availability.

What symptoms were present with the switch disconnected? My M1031 governor keeps running flat out and wont stabilize or ramp down. I am curious if the pto pickup is the problem or the governor control.

Lavarock, To answer your question, yes that switch (I think it's just a micro switch) either cuts "ON" or "off" when you pull your gear shift lever in "D". If you leave it in "N" your engine will run wide open which can ruin your engine and also your generator as the generator suppose to run at 1800 rpms. If needed I could look at switch closer tomorrow and see if any mfg #s are on it.

SmokeyDod - I am referring to the mag pickup, not the safety switch. All the safety switches in my truck have been bypassed. Running in N will cause the engine to run wide open as the PTO is not spinning and the mag pickup cant send RPM to the controller...so along that line of thinking a bad mag pickup could also cause the system to run wide open. Sounds reasonable...

In regards to ruining one's engine, I think the IP internal governor would prevent any significant damage from happening to the 6.2 during a short wide open burst. However, wide open for extended periods of time could result in catastrophic failure.
