Just thought these HMMWV vids would be fun to watch - there are a lot of them. 65 vids I think.

I thought only a very few HMMWVs were ever surplused and sold here...much less exported to Europe. How can can they be available for civilians to purchase in Germany? Can someone help me understand this? What about the "NO exporting" requirements?
Am I missing something obvious?

Anyway...hope you like watching them. Some of them are pretty good.

Agreed. Guess I'm stuck on how German civilians bought them if a U.S. citizen can't? Were they surplused at a base in Europe years ago and sold....or exported from the U.S. to Europe?

BTW: I recently previewed trucks at a GL lot that had a HMMWV. I asked about it and was told they are NOT surplused and sold, but are sent to Anniston AL for "disposal". If we can't buy ones like in the pic, then how can this guy get his???

Just curious....

Good question how they bought them over in Germany.
My guess is we sold them to Germany and they sold them to the public over there.
We kind of have a way about leaving behind equiptment everywere we go. I think it becomes to expensive to send it home or some such story. That and when does anything we do make sence latley.

Over on the G503 forum there is a kid over in Germany with one that has all the latest bumpers and equiptment on it. I will ask him how he got it. He goes by Student Driver on the board.

People are still getting them out somehow but beware of anything newer than a 85,86,87 those were the only ones released in the auctions back in 89 -90?
And they really weren't supposed to be released to the public. It is because of that auction that they aren't releasing them anymore.

People are using bits and pieces from multiple trucks to build up one truck .The studios get them for props and for off highway use only and then somehow they get registered as a kit car or by inventing some kind of vin # other than the original.

How to get a Hummva in Europe

There was once a bunch off 100 Hummvees sold by the MC. And these were puchased by two guys over here for the MC did not know the sales restrictions. Since then the owners ower her who built up their Hummvees from scrap parts had no more problems with the military CID. Also some Hummvees were sold somewere in Britain, as far as I know, from the Air Force, which also ended at some continental dealers. A Hummvee here is from 35000 to 40000 Euros with inspection and road legal documents.
In the US, normally a Hummvee is not road legal for by VIN not existing. And you normally will not get a form 97A document for it.
