M1009 floor mount mystery

I know I have seen at least one thread about the recessed slot with a metal bar across it under the passenger seat in a M1009. I just can't seem to find the thread. So, here is another one.

It seems that every 6 months or so somebody post up asking what this mount is for under the seat. Below is a picture of mine. I was in a junkyard robbing parts from a civilian Blazer the other day and had to get in the back seat. I tried to push the back of the passenger seat forward like mine does and it didn't fold. I pushed harder and the entire seat picked up. That is when I noticed the front seat had a claw that used the floor mount to keep the seat down. This was a power window/power lock/center console a/c truck, so maybe the Custom Deluxe version had our seat and the Silverado version had the other style.

I also noticed the back seat had arm rest. I am going to try and grab them the next time I go there.

It is the jack hold down. The -10 should show it. Seems like the hardward to mount the jack is always missing.

The previous years 73-at least 80 Civy Blazers seat did not slide and recline forward for rear passenger entry it actually hinged toward the windshield and the rear locked in the recess around that round stock.

The jack also stores under the seat but uses a bracket welded to floor with a slot cut in it (see the -34P page 440) of the M1009 and behind the seat in the M1008, 1028

That's right. Those seats actually came up until the 80's. Most civilian Blazers in the 80's do not have the same seats that the M1009's do, unless they were the most basic, stripped down models.

It is where the civilian seat latch catches. If you find a civilian model it will have a piece of chrome trim that goes around the carpet for trim. It allows MUCH more room for entering the back seat. The down side to the civilian seats is only the passenger side flips forward, the driver side does not.

I had a '71 CST Blazer (back when it was a 9-year old truck..) that had the flip forward seat.
The front seats were low backed and had a metal panel that covered the entire back.
The positive side was that it made re-covering the seats easy, you took the back off and stretched new material, then replaced the panel.
A negative side was that if your buddy flipped the seat forward with enough force, the corner of that metal bit would hit your windshield and crack it. I doubt you need to ask how I know this...
