Neil Hendrix and myself started the day at 0600hrs this morning. After loading my truck we took off for Ft. Jackson SC. A big thanks to Adam for towing it off base on Thurs. When we got to Adams place I was thrilled to find the truck in greater shape than I had expected. We swapped around a few tires checked fluids aired up tires and aint I glad I rainex'd the windows. Then we were off on what turned out to be another 4 hour trip to home again. We stopped for a fabolous Waffle House lunc-LOL- and fuel and we were off. Stopped about 35 miles down the road to give the once over and everything great> Went a couple more hours and stopped again and (*&%^%$%^$&^ all 6 drums are pouring axle grease. After topping them off and being very careful about the brakes we went the last leg of the trip to the farm with no problems. The truck ran very strong and shifted great. All good except for my back-If anyone has a spare springer seat laying around let me know. A little work to do to it but another nice recovery. A big thanks to Neil for going with me on another adventure.

JAy I think I will keep this one. I will probably look for someone to trade the hardtop to for a softtop and flip the headlights and repaint and troopseats and drive it. I will probably add electric wipers-it rained buckets all the wat home so that brought back all the bad memories of air wipers.

Walter Thanks again for being on standby to help incase the worst happened. I'll be talking to you soon.

Jon hang in there on the EUC. If I hadn't called DLA and got help from some great people I would still be waiting. They informed me that after 4 months that GL had not supplied them with the needed forms. ! week after my first call I had my EUC.

A vietnam vet who was at Adams place informed us that the bracket was for a fire extinguisher. strange place for an extinguisher don't you think.
Actually that looks like the mount for the M11 Decontaminating Apparatus. It looks and works much like a fire extinguisher, but is pressurived by a nitrogen cartridge and always kept empty unless the real threat of use was there.

They spray a nasty chemical known as DS2, that will indeed remove any chemical agents, as well as rubber, plastic, skin, and most paints.

One reason CARC was developed is that it is about the only paint that can be sprayed with DS and not be stripped off. Prior to CARC had we ever been attacked with chemical agents you would eaisly spot the vehicles that had been deconed by the new rust colored finish...

Of course, since the decon apparatus almost always was never issued and just sat in the NBC cage, most troops stuffed a fire extinguisher in there,

If I may ask, could you provide more info on this subject. I plan to start calling people Monday and try to find out what is going on. I have read several threads with talk of this but no specific info on what the hold up is and who to call to make things happen. Heck, I don't even know what DLA stands for .

DRMO has been replaced by DLA. I now require a secure login with a government CAC card to access the website for screening and requisistioning. Glad you guys made it back safe and glad to here she runs good. I didn't drive it much but seemed to be a peppy truck.

Cool truck. Looks about like the one I got out about a month ago from Jackson. Except mine came with the electric wipers. Good Luck and enjoy!
