Alright so my batteries are going down hill. If I let the truck sit for a few weeks they are dead and if I charge them up and shut the truck off with the headlights on to grab something when I come back they are to dead to start from 5 mins of headlights on. Now I know I need about 800CCA batteries. What do you guys suggest for brands and quality. Right now it has 2 year old autolights which seemed ok, but didnt last too long. What is a good battery that can handle the 105* outside temp in the summers here in AZ? Has anyone used the yellowtop optimas? Why not just go with the blue ones if you use a deep cycle? What else is good?

I have optima yellow tops in my duramax I think they are great batteries in this heat

The yellow & blue tops are the same just different terminals for marine application

Mine are QuickStart 1100 ca. They work good. Last owner put them in. I don't know much about them, I just check them all the time to make sure they're full of fluid and fully charged. It gets as cold as -40* here. I don't have battery heaters (battery "blankets") and these will still start the truck. (if it's that cold, I do use block heaters). Pretty amazing when you think about how much power the glow plugs suck before the starter even comes into play. At -40*, battery people around here tell me that you're lucky to get 25% of the normal power out of a battery. Just my experience, good luck.

I had installed a new set of the 6TL batteries in my truck when I bought it from GL. After they bit the dust I put in a pair of the group 31 deep cycle batteries that WalMart sells for boat trolling motors. They are cheaper than the 6TLs and seem to work better. I've run these things for the past 2 years without any problems.

i use napa commercial batterys biggest cca i could get, not very cheap but truck spins over fast since i put them in.

I just get refurbished truck batteries. They are cheap and the battery tray is built to hold them also.

I get a pair for $104 and they are great batteries and fit perfectly. Check with your local alternator repair shop they may have them or at least know where to get them.

My truck came with two of these in it -- they're a little on the spendy side but they're a really nice battery.

I saw group 31 batteries in Tractor Supply, I believe Exide brand, for $90 a piece. I'm gonna try these when I need new ones for my M1008.

Yes the optima yellow top batteries are great batteries I have optima's in everything m1028,mud bogg truck,pulling truck and daily driver cost a bit but are worth the money!

I just bought 2NEW Blue top Optima batteries. They have the dark gray case, which is a deep cycle and cranking battery. They are probably the most expensive ones and best ones they make..... I got a deal, new $100bucks a peice off craigs list. I got lucky normal retail price is $239 each. My truck cranks with some noticable enthusiasm. Big difference.... Now i got to ad some serious electric ad ons... maybe a winch, spot lights... big base thumping ghetto stereo...

I had been told that the quality of the optima line has depreciated over the last few years but it looks like you all are getting good results.
