Well, I am sitting in my motel room waiting to pick up my trailer at Red River Army Depot (Hooks) tomorrow and the rain is coming down harder than a cow pissing on a flat rock. I sure hope the trailer is on a gravel lot and not in some field since the weather will be more of the same tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Yuk! Yuk! Chris. I was lucky, the GL guy moved it right to my truck and lifted it on to the pintle. The M101A2 is in great condition with all parts. The only negative I could see was the surge line is disconnected but it towed super all the way back to San Antonio.

Only had the camera phone and it was raining. I will take some in my driveway now that it is "home". All good things come to he who waits"

Is this from the 10/07 listing?

I am still waiting on my EUC to clear for my M101A2 trailer I bought. Dang I wish I would have seen this when you were there so you could have looked at mine so I know what to expect when I get it.

Oh, other then Red River truck parts, what other placed should one go to when in Hooks?

My EUC took 75 calendar days and it was my first one. I did not go anywhere other than RRAD since it was raining the whole time I was there. I did go to Walmart and get a set of magnetic lights since I could not get the 12V bulbs to work and I did not try to trouble shoot it in the rain.

The trailer was exactly as pictured with all the bows, canvas front and rear landing legs, etc. By the way, I was in the Army for 5 years back in the late 60's and I have never seen so much stuff on one base. The were vehicles the likes of nothing I have ever seen before.

Wow, 75 days that is a long time for just a trailer, so I guess I will expect to make my trip in early December then.

I plan to make a day out of the trip and stay in a hotel the night before, that way I can get there real early and then stop all those surplus places near the base.

That is what I did. I stayed at the America's Best Value Inn in New Boston for $55 for two people and a continental breakfast. It is only about 5 minutes down the road.

I had a 9am pickup appointment and got to the commercial truck check in point at 8am. Since I only had a pickup, I did not wait in line and got my pass and off to GL. I was real nice to "Neely" when I made the appointment and talked to her while waiting for my escort. She was very friendly and helpful. The young man who showed me to my trailer hooked it up for me and off I went. Be prepared for a rather weird route from the inspection point to the GL trailer. I think there is construction going on and I made about 6 turns when there is a straight shot on the map. But, that did afford me the opportunity to see a bunch of neat stuff.

Times 2 :)

Nealy is very nice & helpful.
Yes there is still construction (weird route).
Like you I do enjoy sightseeing there.
Lots of stuff that will never see civi hands.

red river truck parts is a waste of time. They are too busy to bother with walk-ins.
