Pulled the new project home today

We pulled home the new project today. Its a little rough but not too bad. Hadnt been started in years. Put in new oil and filters and batteries. Had to borrow the lift pump from the other deuce, this ones dead, purged the lines and she fire right up. Still have to bleed brakes and repair radiator but its a start. We may leave it stock or may bob it and put on the 16.00s in the back. Any opinion would be appreciated.

Congrats on the trk! Did you make the tow bar? Amazing how resilient these trucks are to abuse and neglect. Amazing design! Good luck, and pm me about the tow bar if you are so minded.

Its just amazing how these can sit for years and with a few minor things (batteries, Fuel etc.) they can start right up.

The towbar is homemade. Ron, Littlefoot on here, came up with and made it. It worked great. We used chains because it was the bars trial run. But I think we will use them from now on. Cant be to safe with these big beasts. I will post pictures as we go.

No I think it's not a good find and you need to sell it WILL BE RITE THERE! LOL Sweet looking truck and tow bar looks good also the chains I say glad to see sombody thinking! More needs to use them! keeps the dot happy and the public safe! one of my pet peves not useing safty chains!!

I was a 63B-H8 in the army. Which is a light wheeled vehicle mechanic. The H8 is a recovery specialist. I drove a 5 ton wrecker and have seen what happens when they dont get hooked up and pulled safely. I get kind of spaztic about safety. Of course my wife says I'm a spaz about everything.

With My many years on the Fire Dept/Rescue have seen the bad things that can happen when things being pulled come unhooked! I Think you can not be to careful when towing something this way! THANKS FOR BEING A SPAZ!

I started in HHC 197th spt bn, Then moved to C co. 197th spt bn When I took over the wrecker / recovery operation. Its good to talk to you. I think the 197th is a small group of people. I haven't met many others who were in it.

I was there from 84 to 88. I pulled alot of vehicles to the 3rd shop. We probably met.

Pushed the deuce into the barn today and started the tear down. Fenders, hood, windshield frame, seats and pioneer rack all removed. Alot more to tear down and repair. Going to nee d more brake work than I hoped. The master cyl had a mouse nest inside it. I think I might as well rebuild the airpack just to be safe and the wheel cylinders.

Looks like you might have some "Chop Shop" experience on your resume'.
