Where to place the jack or supports?

Search threads throw up too much answers.

I want to safely raise all wheels of the ground to do some warming up of the drive train for oil change, do some repair and maintenance, check brakes etc.

Front is clear but what is the best place for a jack or support thing at the rear? Two railroad beams on each side under the two axles of the tandem is a good and safe trick, but I don't have enough beams or heavy timber laying around here. I have a 15-ton hydraulic pot jack and a few 5-ton support struds (if that's the correct word for them)

If you drive it the fluids warm up faster. There is no load on the drivtrain when the vehicle is off the ground. A jack stand at each wheel is the safe way. Make sure you are on concrete or asphalt.

Problem is, the truck is standing on grass next to a farm in a little village. I am not allowed to drive the truck on road and there is no nice long land road where nobody comes to do it anyway. So I have to improvise

not trying to be a smart*** but if you can't drive it anywhere then what does it need an oil change for?

If you can drive it around on the farm for a bit that should take care of it, if you really have to jack it up then I would use 6 jack stands - 2 under each axle.

It needs the oil change because it did not have one for over 13 years and I start use it, trying to keep the thing alive and healthy. Once I have papers, I will start use it seriously.

As to the farm, this is a nice romantic small dutch farm, the grass lands starts right behind the barn, there is about 80 to 100 feet of hard road next to the farm.

13 years ago would be about 1997? The Czech Republic didn't become part of NATO untill 1999. Send my truck home! Just kidding but do you know any of the history on how it did get there? What is the price of diesel there? Wayne

The truck is standing in the Netherlands, was bought somewhere between 1997 and 2000 at a surpus auction from the Nato support depot in Ter Apel!

Was registered to the 368 Batallion Engeneers, but I don't think they ever actively used it.

Maybe weird looking, but better safe than sorry

The tandem is supported supported in the middle, those blocks are resting on long beams, so the wieght si pread over the ground (no concrete floor available, only uneven grassland. IN addition, something as extra under the axles themselves as welll.

The front axle is resting on two struds. We just put two tires on top of each other to have another safety under the bumper, that is the car is slipping, it will be caught by that.

Finally, the 15-ton jack is under the pintle housing as rear safety. Not under pressur, but locked tight against the pintle housing.

No way this truck is going anywhere. We ran the wheels without tires up to fifth gear, not even a light shaking, rock solid.

Even after a garage hasd loosened up the nuts, it took us three ours to get all the tires off.
