I do believe its designed for quick response as they use a pin to attach to the front hooks of a vehicle, its designed for a fast load up, would guess you could still tow long distance with it but I have read not for use larger than 10K

I have 2 of them but don't have anything to use them on. Thought about putting one on the M725 but need to fix the tranny as it is a lawn ornament right now.

the tan towbars have all been recalled, only to be used with approval from senior command. they were not strong enough(broke apart and maimed service members) . they have been replaced with stronger heavier black ones.

JWaller is correct. The early IBIS Tek bars (tan) have been or are being disposed of. Specifically they are not for use on Heavy HMMWV's and have been replaced with a dark colored one that is stronger/better. A number of the early tan bars were surplused.

Cheers,

Clarke

I have a tan one and use it frequently to tow my M1009 behind my motorhome. I would'nt use it on anything heavier than a CUCV based on the recall but it seems plenty strong for my use. Takes about 30 seconds to hook it up by myself and only weighs 60lbs. Probably have over a thousand miles of towing on it.
