I need to recover 2 m101a1 trailers about 2 - 3 hours away from home. i have been searching the trailer forum for an hour now and cant find this answer so bear with me and sorry if its posted elsewhere. i will be renting a uhaul or ryder truck to recover them but instead of towing them, it looks like the dimensions of the bigger non cdl trucks are big enough to fit both trailers inside. has anyone tried this or have info on this? thanks for any advise.

How big of a box does the truck have? 2 trailers end to will be pushing 18'. I dont think there would be any way or means of tying them down securly inside the truck.

This pic is 2 M101'son a 16' trailer

There will be no way to tie them down inside the box. Sure, most of them have rails inside for securing mattresses and such but there is no way it would hold a M101.

...same problem w/M105's

A few years ago...before GL started selling stuff all over...I bought (2) M105 trailers from a guy in KY. We discussed how to get them back...350 mi...and finally it hit us. If you take the bows out,put a steel stake/pipe into the four corners and flip one trailer up-side-down onto the pipes...works just fine. Then strap/chain/bind 'em together. Did this with a Ford crew-cab diesel duelly, fabricated a pintle to go into the 2" receiver and ...bingo...pulled like a dream all the way home. Of course, you need a fork lift or a wrecker to do the flip...but it beats having to make the trip twice...LOL....

If you pull the front bolts from a M101 and tilt the bed back and the A frame front down you can fit them in smaller spaces.

There is another recent thread about flipping one M101A2 and putting it atop another.

thank you all for the great info! the inside dimensions of the truck are 23'.5" L x 7'.3" W x 6' 10" H so im sure it would fit but i didn't realize that there would be no place to tie them down. Looks like it will be the easiest thing for me just to rent a trailer and tow them behind the truck. thanks again to all!

How do you load two on a trailer with no loading assistance? I was going to do two on my 16' trailer but was recovering alone. Inquiring minds want to know!

I cut down 2X4 in the 4- corners and used 4-1/2 " bolts locked them together, put cargo straps just to look good. You should cary a chain long enough to go across the box off the forks and GL can set them down easy.

Have a winch on the trailer? If not get a come-a-long and pull them up onto your trailer yourself.
