In the MilSurp firearm world there is a term for someone who gets hold of a fine piece of Military History and decides to "make it better": BUBBA.

This is apparently what happens when Bubba gets his hands on a M101A2:

I guess I'm a bubba. I don't have a deuce or a F350. I needed to make the trailer suit my needs. The lower bed makes it easier to load dirt bikes and stuff.

To pull a M101A1 you do NOT need a F350, any M37, M715, M880, CUCV series truck exept the M1009 is good enough to tow it legally. And the fitted wheels realy do not fit optically to that trailer. If the trailer is 8 bolt pattern, anyway, it is a M101A2 with inertia overrun brakes. I did not check the pics close enought to judge that. Anyway, I would not have done that!

O.K., I did not realy pay attention, it was said to be a M101A2, so with inertia overun brakes. So, I do NOT unterstand, why the brake was taken out. The master cylinder is the same as a CJ2 and cheep to buy. The shock absorber is also cheep as surplus. And why the change to a 5 bolt patern? Do the wheels realy have the capability to carry the load? And the tires?
I'm happy that this trailer probably never will be close to me. Here in Germany this modified trailer never ever would get a permission to be road legal. No commands form your side of the Atlantic neccessary.

Folks, lets give any Bubba stuff a break. Obviously someone modded a trailer to fit their needs. No one here has ever modded a trailer or truck? Is bobbing a deuce really that much different. Mission adaptable is not all bad. Perhaps we should change the deuce hotrodding section to the "Deuce Bubbafication" section. Lay off folks!

Recovry4x4 is right. These people have modified their trailers to suit their needs. We may not agree with the bling wheels or other weird stuff but they have every right to make it usuable for them. Heck, I've got a M101A1 to go behind my M56B1 and several times I wished I had another that was lower so that it could be used regularly with my F250. If someone can modify these trailers safely and actually use them, then great.

derf, I like your trailer. I don't have a whole lot of money. My pocketbook is based on practicality. If I had a trailer like that, I would use it. Not sure I can do it right now with the big wheels pulling behind my chevy pickup. I noticed your trailer hitch is nice and level all the way back, just the way it should be. I could use it for everything I do, including hauling back from GL and yardwork too. Very practical.

Of course, I don't have my first O.D. green truck yet either. That will change things some, but that is down the road some. Good job!!!

Well I have to admit thats not a rig for me but , I know that one of the main attractions of surplus for me is getting a great product at a great price which = Cheap . Hey I have had those civi trailers and guys the reverse is in order poor quality at high prices . This guy is tring to put both worlds together and if it works for him then It's money well spent . Hey at least it didn't hit the junk pile at GL
