How do you keep your rear window on your Blazer clear?

I don't mean when loading stuff in it... I mean in this weather- my first winter, I am having all kinds of condensation and fog. I am in the middle of a search for a high quality heater core, so I don't know if having the heater and windshield degogger on will keep the rear windows clear?

Will it?

Is there a defogger kit for the rear window?

Those stick on heat strips won't last on a rear M1009 window because of the pretty tight felts around the glass in the tail gate.

Use your outside mirrors is the best advice I can give you besides fixing your main heater.

On the rear window topic, anyone have a complete locking hand crank with matching key?
LMC doesnt have a complete set in stock.
It does help keep my window clear since it is not rolling down right now...

It might work the bronco had strips on them and they didnt fall off. if you get a good seal it might hold on, also depends on how thick the film is

Go to the junkyard and hunt down the chevy suburbans some of the better ones had rear heaters in them. They ran hoses from the cooling system along the underside of the truck to supply the heat. I have seen them use a blower on them for a rear defrost.

Justin,

I was missing the "crank" on the rear window crank when I bought my M1009. It just had the short linkage and the lock was a little beat up. I bought the Civvy chromed piece and the M1009 replacement key core with the military cut set on eBay. I didn't want the chrome standing out so I carefully sanded all of it with 160 then 300, 400. I assembled it all- before putting it on the tailgate, and primed it with self-etching primers- 3 coats. Same number of coats of Gillespies "383". Looks great. I still have to make a touch up where the crank touches; but I use a 2' sheet of cardboard with the center cut to fit over the crank. Hoild it in place with tape, open the crank and shoot a coat or two until next inspection.

Good luck.

I used to plow with my brother in law's 84 blazer and he had installed a small fan near the rear window and that worked great to keep the fog off. It had a switch wired up to the dash.

FirefighterHill: I contacted the FrostFighter company you suggested...
Ed,

Thank you for your question.

I think the Blazer has a sliding glass that goes inside the gate - right? As you can guess the sliding part is the problem as the seals do not allow for a defroster since they tend to rub off the glass when the gate is used. So sorry to say, no on the defroster for this application.
