Has anyone bought these glowplugs here?

Well, they say they're self regulating, so that's a good thing. But I don't see any markings on the brand on the plugs. That screams made-in-china to me.

I'd spend the money on a set of self regulating AC Delcos....

The ad says part number G070 and Made in USA. Look like Wellman.

When it comes to something important as a glow plug, I will spend the extra money on AC Delco 60G from my local parts store. It is only about $10-$15 more then that eBay listing.

Post the pictures, not the e bay link. In about 30 days, the link will be dead and this thread will be less useful.

Warwag, your question has been asked dozens of times in other threads. The wort "best" is too vague. (edit) I also just read the same question that YOU posted last night on another thread. That is called cross-posting and against the site rules.

Wellman glow plugs are advertised as self regulating and non swelling. My experience(and many many others proves that is false).

All glow plugs will fail eventually, think of them like household light bulbs.

The ad says they're made in Indiana.
I've had excellent luck with both Wellman and AC 60s, but in two different trucks.

The quality of crafstman is horrible now. I an constantly breaking sockets and ratchets. Not to mention having to perform surgery on myself to remove their fake chrome.

My glow plug system had worked since I brought the truck home. I noticed last winter it was hard to start when real cold so I ordered some wellman 070's. Spring came and the truck was starting fine so I put the new glow plugs on the shelf. All summer and into the fall things worked just fine.

Two weekends ago I removed the original glow plugs (one was open all others passed the ohm meter test) and installed the wellman 070s from last winter. The truck started just fine (once), I hooked up the M101A2 and loaded it with scrap batteries. Two days later, at night, in the middle of a cold snap I tried to start the truck. It almost caught on the first try and never so much as coughed after that. A quick check in the dark below freezing night showed 28V on a glow plug terminal so I gave up before burning up anything else.

The following weekend I confirmed that every one of the wellman 070s were burnt out (open as per the ohm meter) and about half had swollen (not too bad thank God). It could be the relay suddenly stuck closed or the control card instantly went bad or perhaps the swellman 070 glow plugs just suck. When it warms back up to freezing I will follow the troubleshooting procedures in the TM.

In the mean time I picked up new AC60G glow plugs, a new S603 relay, a 72" #4 battery cable and a 175A fuse link. I am going to take Doghead's advice and power the AC60Gs with 12V. As I understand his modification I can still use the original glow plug controller. If during TM troubleshooting I find the controller is bad I will install a momentary switch to operate the glow plug relay until I can replace the controller card.

That is my experience, use at your own risk, your mileage may vary, no warranty is offered either express or implied, blah blah blah.

Running the GPs off 12V is a splendid idea. You can leave and cap off the existing wire and use it in an emergency slave start if you need to. I imagine one could even hook the 2 wires to a heavy knife swith and select back an forth as needed.
