Sorry another truck wont start

Was driving the truck today like every other day, and I parked it and went into the house for afew hours. When I came back out to start the truck, all I got was a click when I turned the key. Didn't even try to start. I checked for loose cables, none that I could find. The batteries are 6 months old, and fully charged. I get power just no start just a click each turn of the key. Solenoid? maybe? Thanks Mark

How do you know the batteries are fully charged?

Did you test them with a voltmeter and a load tester? I have seen brand new batteries on the shelf that have had a bad cell.

My first guess is a bad/dirty connection somewhere. The CUCVs are very prone to dirty connections.

Sorry I have a m1008. I put a fresh charge on the batteries, The bat cables have new leads installed at the time of the new bats. I checked the connections. Thanks again

Bad underdash relay or starter solenoid or starter or battery cable or connection.

My guess, under dash relay, you can either use "doghead starter relay mod" (search it), or buy a replacement from Autozone. It is the same as the blower motor cutout relay, part #19952. It has an extra pin, this is not a problem and works fine. The doghead relay mod is a better solution, but requires a few modifications to the wiring.

Have a friend you trust hold the key in the start position and tap on the starter from below with a small hammer. You want to hit it just behind the aluminum bell. GM starters are bad about giving you little to no warning that the brushes are shot. Generally tapping will get you a few starts, but she probably is past due for an overhaul. If batteries and all connections are good..... I would prefer to overhaul the stock starter to buying a rebuilt one or even a new one. Glen

If you take a screwdriver and short the large battery terminal on the starter to the small start terminal, you will bypass all the start wiring. If it cranks, look for bad solenoid circuitry, if it doesn't then look for bad power connections or a bad starter.

You wrote that you replaced the ends on a "bad" cable. How bad was that cable and why didn't you replace it? Giggle that cable and try to start again.

Thanks for all the replies. My problem turned out to be a combo of the starter relay and also the starter. The relay was fried an the starter on its last leg. Going to try one of the ebay starters. Most people on here seem to have good luck, and can't beat 120.00 to the door.
