Need an adapter to go from my camper trailer to my M1008

Not sure if you're replying to my post, but if so.... It splices into the main harness, which has a connector in the left rear. Have used that particular set-up numerous times.

I do agree with the 7 pin under the bumper as stated above

In this particular situation where it appears that the trailer isn't that heavy it
is probably ok to use the brake light wire as a signal to the electric brakes,
but in the case of a heavy trailer you would be better off using the tie in to the
hydraulic system. Talk to the folks at Brake Smart for the gory details and good help.

Remember that the brake light trigger just gives you a start point for the brake application.
The controller attempts to smooth this out, but in reality all you are sending is an on off signal.
When you tie in to the hydraulic system, you get a more syncronized signal going to the trailer brakes.

For a light load it probably doesn't matter, but if you are pulling a heavy one I would check this out carefully.
Talk to the guys at Brake Smart, they know far more than I do.

i just joined the forum last night at like 9:30, if you could tell me where to look for your post i will look at it. also, anyway to find out which wires go to what? (ie brakes are green, turn signals yellow?) if i could find a wire diagram for the military adapter i would be fine. it would appear that my MV was used at Fort Bragg cuz i have lots of clay buildup under my bumper (and around my adapter).

Dstang: Yes, Hoppy makes the adapter. The 41105 is for the four plug flat. If i recall i chopped the four pin end off and wired it to the 7 pin (vehicle side). 4 wire + brake control, reverse, and aux/pwr brings you to 7. I've also soldered direct to the applicable wires, but the tap is a little quicker and neater

Firefox: Just to clarify, just in case someone mis-interprets.... The brake light signal wire is fed into the brake controller (inside the vehicle, NOT to the electric brakes). As for electric controllers, there's plenty of trailers in excess of five ton capacity using electric brakes activated by a electric controller. I've even towed them once or twice.... haha Brake smart is pretty costly, and in this app not so sure it's really necessary... Bottom line is, if the trailer is that heavy then a 08 wouldn't be towing it!

The only way that thing works is if you cut the Right turn signal wire off and tie it in to the other side. Check to make sure you have a right turn signal at your receptacle. Every other person on here that I know of has had the same problem. Thats why I said it was a waste of money. That kit is for a Civi main harness with out Blackout lights. and It just so happens to some what work when it is plugged into the left taillight

i tried to use the adapter at first but it did not operate both turn signals so i just hard wired the rv plug. i wire boats for a living so i prolly did a better job than the factory would for element proofing anyhow.
