M35A3 bumper ID

Tried to get to the unit ID numbers today, used a graffiti remover (didn't work well) and a knife to get under paint. No numbers as far as I can tell. The only numbers are on the glove box lid. Are the tan paint "boxes" ready to put numbers on and never got any? or are they deeper. What do these numbers in the cab mean?

I have no idea what the numbers on your glovebox mean, but my A3 has similar numbers on the inside of the glovebox. I did have legible bumper numbers, however.

The glove box number is the US Army registration number. In the 1960's and before, those numbers were painted on the side of the hood.

Grafitti remover isn't gonna do a thing, you 've gotta use Brakleen, or a good carb cleaner like berkeble 2+2 or walmart super tech smells like 2+2.

Spray liberally on a clean rag and wipe vigorously. and viola numbers appear

Your glove box numbers are the registration numbers to your vehicle. There really isn't a real civilian equivalent. It was issued to the vehicle at the time of acceptance by the govt. On very rare occasions it can change but highly unlikely.

That and the serial number from the frame are what I like to use in finding your vin info. That info can usually tell you what unit had your truck and that could give you most of the info you needed to redo the bumper numbers.

My numbers are made of black vinyl and painted over with black paint, but since they stand out they were very easy to read without removing any paint.
