Applying Bedliner to M105A2?

Ive used Raptor and Hurculiner. The raptor I apply with a roller but dries nice and smooth while the herculiner has a harsh texture. The Raptor is available tintable or black and the Herculiner is just Black from what i can tell. The pics I am posting are from Herculiner on the M105 and the M35 bed. The Raptor liner is on the inside and paint of the M715 pic and video

Oh yeah when using a bedliner material the black and anything you tint will have a semi gloss to high gloss finish regardless of what type of paint you tint it with I recommend painting over tinted bedliner with a minimum of two light coats to deaden the sheen. The m715 is the video has two coats of bedliner and three coats of OD Ultra flat Majic Camo brand paint

As Ive mentioned in some other threads, I used hurculiner in the bed and underneath of my M101.

Its crap for the bed, underneath is no big deal. It scrapes off, peels and exposes the primer under it. And I did EXCATLY as the directions said. Granted its easy to touch up, just blob some on to re do it, I woulda just liked something a little more stronger. But as they say, you get what you pay for.

LineX wanted $2000 to do the bed and underneath.

My 2cents is dont use hurculiner when its gonna get use, sliding stuff, moving stuff across it whatever. Use it only where itll be put on and left alone.

$2000 versus $80 (or so) per gallon....says it all right there in how much abuse it will take. I have put herculiner in my deuce and 2 F350 beds. It holds up well enough and if you have to touch up oh well. I can do a lot of touch up for $1920.

Exactly, and that was my point, ya get what ya pay for. I agree on the touch up, I just think its gonna get old touchin it up virtually every time I use it. but oh well. I got a long way to go to get to 2 grand of touch ups!! :)

Did the floor of my manure spreader with hurculiner with good results. But I took to to the local sandblaster so I had a good clean surface to apply the stuff and that it had a good bond to metel, no flaking at all. The hurciliner was pretty rough though, next time might use something smoother

The Raptor bedliner is almost exactly the same as Rhino line or Linex. It is a professional finish. I learned about it from a Bodyshop guy. The stuff isnt as forgiving as Hurculiner though but easily done at home. Enough to do the outside of a M715 and the interior and bed is around 175.00 dollars

I have used the Herculiner on some projects and been very happy with it. It does require lots of prep work though. It will not stick to shiny surfaces.

Mine was sandblasted clean, wiped with acetone, and primed with the appropriate primer. I put two coats on, and I can just about scratch it off with my finger nail to the white primer underneath. Dunno, maybe I got two cans outta the same batch that were bad??

It didn't 'chemically bond' or grip to your primer...

When I got the manure speader home from the sandblaster, I just blew the excess sand off, taped the edges and applied the herculiner and seams to be holding up fine, no acetone or primer. I also had the local Rhino liner guy spray my M416 trailer. I also took and got the whole trailer sandblasted and took it straight over to get it rhino lined. They didnt want it primered as they said the rhino stickes better to bare metel. Ten years later, still holding up fine.

No primer needed for the herculiner as per tech support. I also spray it on thinning it with Zylene. You can thin it up to 10% and I use what is called a shutz gun. The spay gun is available at most auto body supply stores and has a 1/4" nozzle. Works great and gives pro results. Another thing is to wipe the surface down after roughing it up with either a good grease and wax remover or zylene not acetone, alcohol, paint thiner or anything other than those 2. Hope this helps everyone.

What kind of primer did you use Nick? At work we were repainting
a "BUNCH" of HMMWV FLA's and we had a heck of a time with using the
white Epoxy primer the Govt. specd. finally quit using it.......problem
solved, you couldn't beat it off with a hammer!!! LOL
