5 ton control arms on a deuce

I am wanting to put 14.00r20 on my deuce and keep both rear ends... I know that I will have to move the front axel forward or the back axel to the rear... I also know that 1400 will fit on a 5 ton and I just want to know if I can put a set of 5 ton control arms on the rear axel. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

It has been done a search of the deuce mod forum should net how it was completed.

I don't know that what you are talking about has been done, I have seen guys cut the deuce arms and lengthen them with some success. I think the best thing for you to do is to transfer the entire rear bogey springs and all, remove some springs from the pack and bolt everything else back up and run it that way. I don't know that the taper or size on the control arms are the same between the two to retain the deuce bogey.

1400's on a deuce

I think A3 was modified to accept the 1400's. Pic from a thread somwhere on SS. I don't remember which one.

Willywanderer has 1400s on his, he is one that sectioned the dog bones. 2 more have done it but I forget who they are.

thanks for the help guys i talked to wainderingwilly's about his and i saw his thread about how he done and he did a real nice job... but i still dont have any answers about if the 5 ton control will fit the deuce...

I have spare dog bones from a deuce. If someone can get measurements from a 5ton dog bone, I'll measure the deuce ones I have.

Forget them, they won't fit. Besides the length everything else of a 5ton "dogbone" is about 1.5x the size of the Deuce's!

What about taking a set of 5 ton dog bones and having the bolts machined down to the size of a deuce dog bones

It would be cool if someone made a set of dogbone mounts to fit five ton dogbones on a deuce...But i think you woulld be better putting the whole suspension under the ..It might give you some extra lift to fit those tires to..If not i'm sure it would be way easier and safer to make new dogbones from some thick walled round tubing..All they are is two round holes with a tube in the middle..

was looking over my rear axel last nite and noticed that the dogbone didn't mount straight to the axel housing but that it mounted to a clamp that went around the axel housing. Just wondering if i could take a set of 5 ton clamps and go to the rear axel housing and then have the bolt on the opposite end machined down to the size of the deuce bolt. anybody see anything wrong with that idea
