Wheel Balancing A3

I read in a previous thread about adding 3 lug nuts, opposite the CTIS valve, to balance a tire. I tried this on the front left and it made a noticeable difference. The 3 nuts weigh 1lbs 2 oz. I removed the cast wheel weight and traced it's outline on some sheet lead. Took 5 ply of lead to equal the 1lb 2 oz. Put the lead on and then the wheel weight over it and tightened it all down. The lead doesn't show and the wheel is "balanced". I'll give it a test tomorrow and report in.

Use Dynobeads 16oz in each wheel
My worry about those is them getting sucked into the CTIS wheel valve and jamming things open/shut, or god forbid making their way back into the bearing area.

If you didn't have CTIS, it wouldnt be an issue........... but if you didn't have CTIS.... we wouldn't be having this discussion. :)

I ran the truck today and the front end is immensely better. I can still feel a bit of wobble and can tell it is definitely coming from the back of the truck. I'm going to make more weights and add them to the back 4 wheels. This lead is readily available from any roofer or roofing supply company, it's used as flashing. You can see it installed behind the wheel weight.

FWIW my wobble got much better after adding weights, but has almost completly gone away from just driving the truck and letting the tires wear down a bit.

I would just put 4 or 5 golf balls in the tire and it will balance it self. Thats what all the tire shops around here do for the semis and anything with big tires that runs over 20 mph
