This is a nice show and the museum has been doing it for 3 or 4 years as a fundraiser. And besides how often do you get to spend quality time with a P-51 or Cobra?

Might be another location for a good mini rally. It is at the Olympia, WA airport. The airport was a P38 base during WW2.

Their hangar is pretty full of aircraft and once they set the tables up for the show, there is not much floor space. But they have allowed inside displays before. You should give the museum a call and ask for Teri. She is the Director. If you are looking at bringing vehicles, there is plenty of outside parking space in Front of the musuem along the access road. I will probably be doing 1 or 2 tables of display for Desert Storm as it is the 20th Anniversary.

Wish I were there guys but? Went to the Aircraft Miuseum in Tillamook,Oregon a few years ago. I was disappointed at first because the P-38 Lightning was gone. Mentioned it to one of the persons there and he said it was being prepared to fly down to California for both engine rebuilds. Low and behold he told me to walk over to the hanger it was in and I got a personal tour from the pilot who was taking it down to CA. He let me get into the cockpit and boy was that an experience. They are smaller than you think. Anyhow it was fun to be in that P-38. If you ever get a chance visit there also. elk

hey walt are you supposed to be up here in wa state on the date?
Can't make it for that show. Could be headed that way up thru the Oregon coast on the way back to Montana. I have an old "Army Buddy" ( Took basic training with him in Aug of 65 at Fort Ord) and havn't seen or talked with him since 1967 when he came home on leave from Viet Nam to Tacoma. He was in the 173rd Airborrne and a Long Range Recon type. He lives in Drain, Oregon and its going to be great to see him since I havn't seen him in 43 years. He has a 40 acre ranch there and has elk just like I do back in Montana. If we come your way it will be in the first couple weeks of March.Have fun at the museum. Take some pictures and post them here.

I will be going, but have a couple of tables reserved for inside. Changed the starter on the M886 today, but that did not clear up the ticking noise, so have to figure that out before I get too far from the house.

They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

When you call them, see if they could block off a little space out front to park some MV's. I am sure that is something that they haven't thought of. If they are up for it, we could put out a few cones in the grassy spot out front. Their paved parking lot is pretty small and they will need to leave that open for handicap parking. People will be there unloading and setting up, probably by about 0800.

More than likely I'll be coming with my son and father in law. Won't be bringing a MV however. Need to save my fuel for the July convoy;-). Fuel ought to be hovering around $6/gallon then:shock:.

Am really looking fwd to Sat. Unless something earthshaking comes up, Donna and I will be there. With the Desert Storm theme, it'll be the perfect opportunity to debut the CUCV and trailers new DS paint job, complete with orange recognition panel painted on the Blazers roof. Due to high diesel costs (thanks oil speculators) the beast will remain at the house.
See y'all there.

Sorry for the late update, was trying to load up for tomorrow.

I went by this afternoon and they let me put some cones out directly in front of the museums driveway, to make an MV parking area. So if you bring an MV please feel free to move a cone and park there. they have a very small parking lot, so if possible, please try to park out on the front street to leave the parking lot open for visitors.
Happy 20th Anniversary to all you Desert Storm vets.
Door will open at 0830 for displayers and 1000 for visitors. If you have not been to the Olympic Flight Museum before, it is pretty impressive to be able to set up your display under the wings of a P 51 or the rotor of a Cobra.
