So when I first got this truck it didnt always start well.

After rebuilding the starter a little better.
Then the "Doghead" starter relay conversion, a little better still.
Then new glow plugs (AC 40's) and runs like a champ.

This week in North Texas ice storm every day since tuesday.
Then snow last night (thur)
Came out this morning and fired on the first turn of the key.
Also climbing out of my driveway when nothing else will.

Isn't it nice to know that the work you put into these trucks pays off .

Good job

For sure!

I had a heap of trouble awhile back.
After spending allot of money guessing, i finally listened to people on here who know, and its been running like a beast!
After doing all the starting system stuff, recently i did a new thermo stat ( there wasnt one in it?) bottom radiator hose, and heater hoses. Sure glad i did!
Parts arent as expensive for these trucks as our so called modern cars, i feel once you get the stuff that wears out replaced, they are more reliable.
Love these trucks, wish we had 2 more in the family.

Glad to hear it is all better now and started in this cold.

Yeah it is crazy weather we are having here, I am across the boarder in Fort Worth. All my trucks started fine, M1009, M1010 and second M1009, my M1028 is currently has no batteries or starter relay. I have been driving my M1009 all week and with the power of the "J" engine and real 4X4 I made it to work all week with no problems. I have a 2005 4wd Tahoe, but I have not drive that since before this bad weather hit on Tuesday. I did not drive my M1010 that much, but it got around fine as well in this ice and snow. Crazy how others notice my trucks more in this bad weather then before, allot of looks and thumbs up this week.

My 1008 has been doing double duty for work and I have received several compliments from customers whose eq we have to pickup and deliver. So far only had to cycle the GP's twice , once when it was zero.
