Hello everyone love the site,have been on here a few months trying to read and learn all I can.I'm getting ready to get my first MV a m35a2 which I plan on Bobbing and I have a question on wheels for it, I'm going to run 395/85r20 tires and after hours and hours of reading it looks like modified HEMMTT whees are the safest way, but they are anywhere from 250-350 ea.Is there a reason why no one is running Eaton type 42 wheels?On their web site they have 20"x10" 6 on 8.75 millitary with 3" to 7" backspacing for 240.00 ea DOT approved.Is there something I'm missing on the HEMMTT wheels that make them better/safer? Thanks for an input on this I want to build it right. Troy

Welcome to the site. Nice to see another member in Florida join the fun. :)

As far as the rims are the ones Eaton sells a split rim? Also, do you have a link to them? I tried using Google but had no luck. At least with the HEMTT rims they bolt together and it makes it easier to change a tire in your own garage.

Interesting link, thanks. My main concern would be the bead area. I would ask them if the bead area is for 20" civilian truck tires or if it would work with the military surplus tires. The only other issue is how it looks. If you don't care for a military look to the wheels it might be an option. But if you are trying to keep the deuce looking as military as possible then I can see someone paying more for the HEMTT rims instead of the custom Eatons. But that's just my 2cents. :)

Those wheels mentioned are for LT (= light truck) tires, with the bead flange height being about 3/4".
395s (like most other 20" heavy truck type tires, military or not) are designed for std. industrial wheels. Flange height for a 20x10" size wheel is 2".

Those rims wont hold the tires under offroad conditions, on road only its still risky. They are way to shallow as the above photo shows.

By the way, welcome from Central Florida also.

Thanks eveyone for the welcome.I called the tech. line at NTW today to get the info on the wheels, and they are made for LT, but the gentelman I talked to was nice enough to call the manufacture and they can build them with a 2" flange for 50.00 more each wheel.Just to let everyone know.Thanks for all the replys.
