Deuce Cab Cover Options

I know this has been hashed before, but I’ve been thinking about how to replace my deuce's cab cover. I’ll probably end up buying a green or tri-color from GMA.

I was looking for a canvas top, but they were a little pricier, about $325 (almost double the cost of poly). I’ve had some work done by local Amish canvas shops. Has anyone priced getting the canvas tops made? Even with the Amish shops, might be cost prohibitive.

Thought about a Bikini top too. Even if the full tops don’t work out, I was thinking Bikinis would be cool. Had a CJ-7 with a bikini…loved that thing! (So did girls in bikinis…but that was 20 years ago and another story!)

Opinions? Advice? Warnings? (I mean about the Deuce tops…I found out about the girls in bikinis!;-))

I know its an old thread, but is somebody producing bikini tops like the ones in cranetruck's pictures?
I would call up one of the companys that is makeing canvas for M35's and ask if they can make you one. Most companys (New life Cavas, Beachwood Canvas) will make a custom part. I would just send them pictures of what you are looking for.

I have a NOS canvas top I got from Saturn Surplus about 4-5 years ago. It stayed in the house for the first year and a half and and then sat in the garage a couple years before I put it on and put it in the weather. its been on the
the truck a little over a year and its falling apart. I would buy new if you want canvas and treat it with something quarterly to make it last. Another lesson learned the hard way. I prefer the look of canvas so I will probably do it again. I'm just going to treat it better than the last one and cover it with Jluv1185's old poly to keep the sun off. Mine was $325 at the time I bought it.

Just realized how old this thread is, but I would've had a less informative response when you posted. Hope
my experiences help someone with the same question in the future.

After having deuces now for almost 5 years, I would definitely recommend to anyone that they invest in a cheap aluminum carport if they do not have a garage they can keep the vehicle in. The issues of tire dry rot, cab and cargo bed cover fatigue are great enough to justify the $5-700 investment.
