I noticed several threads about this but not one mentioned something I found.

I repaired several cracks and holes in my MVs along with sandrails and even my onroad vehicles.

Bondo = BAD
Fiberglass= ok?
Metal repair welding = Best

But have you ever tried using LAB-METAL ???
You put it on just like bondo but it hardens like metal. You can grind or drill it.
Unlike JB Weld which is still too soft.

Best part is that its not expensive either.

I used something just like that when I grafted a deuce windshield into my M725. I thought it was a good product.

Its also great for those good but not perfect looking welds. Everyone gets those once awhile, goober welds.

Take the lab metal and smear it smooth in the weld and it looks as if the weld was made that way. By the way it also does strengthen the weld a little.

But she sure looks pretty..lol

what i would like to know about "all metal" and "lab metal" and metal based products like that is if you can use them to smooth out weld and then powder coat over it?

All metal you cant powder coat. Its too much tin and wont hold.
Found out the hard way there.

Lab Metal you can powder coat and it holds nice.

Just not used as a structural patch. Use as cosmetic only.

Great question! I too am interested in using Lab metal for cosmetic repairs.

Oh. Lab-Metal will also accept paints and not flake off like the All-Metal brand.

For those high temp areas they also make a High Temp Lab-Metal too. I havent used it yet.
