M66 Deflector Spring

New Life Canvas just delivered the new shell casing deflector canvas. Great looking.

Now, where can I come up with the spring or cable to thread through the canvas and into the mount? Any ideas?

I'd bet McMaster-Carr has them.

I have not been to their website. I looked at Grainger. I also thought a piece of round stock from the hardware store might work also.

I tryed a peice of cable but im not happy with it its not stiff enough. A peace of round bar is my next option. unless I can find a spring

What diameter is the round hole in the deflector mount? I am thinking about stopping at Ace Hardware on the way home.

It is eather 5/16 or 3/8 in. Do you know if anyone has a exspoded veiw of the M66 gun ring?

I have not personally seen an exploded view. One probably exists somewhere.

ok ive been trying to find one but no luck. The ring on my dads truck is missing the traversing locking pin and I want to repop one of course a picture would help and I really dont want to take my ring apart to see what one looks like. If you find a spring please post it ive got to find two springs for me and my dads truck.

you should use a spring material. Rod would work in a pinch but you'd need to have the bend perfect for it to look even close. it looks like the same material that a drain snake is made from. if you get desperate you could buy a drain snake and cut the length you need.

It appears to be the same type spring as the hand drain auger at Lowe's. 3/8 inch x 25 feet.

Cheap enough solution to the problem it appears. Trim to length and it appears good to go.

Thats a nice pretty spring can you take a picture of the brass defector canvas you have Id like to see if the one I coppied is close to yours.

I made it to Lowe's finally. Roads cleared enough to travel this afternoon.

I looked in the plumbing, found the 3/8" x 25 auger but noticed a 3/8 x3" toilet auger had the same cable. Item # 24643 for a couple of bucks cheaper and much less waste.

I used an air cut off tool to cut to length. Put the cable through the canvas, it takes some threading to do, and it will work like the real thing.
