I see 3 possibilities
1. Stolen CUCV and some one used a VIN & title from an 82. A VIN check on the frame vs plate may confirm this.
2. An 82 some one took the parts from a CUCV and built it onto an 82 or put two trucks into one. Most likely of the 3.
3. A pre-production CUCV (i have heard rumors that they exist, never seen one online or in person)

Can you take any pics of the axels, engine bay, and interior?

Does it have frame horns coming out from the bumpers? (the things the shackles attach to)

Is there a plaque on the drivers side door jamb? what about a sticker on the drivers door? drivers side inner fender? They should all match up. I think someone switched the cab or vin?

ill look for all that i hope i didnt get ripped off but more so i hope its not stolen
I doubt its stolen, thats a lot of work to just get $1,500. I am betting some one fixed a CUCV by using a cab or parts from an 82.

It would be really cool though if you do indeed have a pre-production model.

I did not see your new post wit the VIN, that is not a CUCV according to t he standard VIN scheme as the 5th digit is not a "D" and the "C" is 2wd where it should be a "K" for 4wd. Yes it is a 1982 as the 10th digit is a "C'", but I would make sure the VIN matches the title. Maybe some early pre-production test mule, but I would think that would start with at least a 4wd K30 truck.

You can unbolt the vin plate/ dash panel. Someone probably could not get it titled so they threw on a different vin.

I am not sure exactly where it is located...but I think there is a vin also on the frame some place. If you can find that it is probably the real vin and you can see when your truck was truly built.
